This week's Monday Night Drill was a lost person search over at Onatru Farm on Elmwood Road in South Salem, New York. Both Vista Fire & EMS crews searched the area bordering Elmwood Road, Shady Lane & Deep Well Farms Road while Lt. Brian Porco led the crews from the command post.
It took Vista FD crews roughly 35 minutes to locate the person, address the patient's medical needs, package them for extrication and remove them from the woods to a waiting ambulance. Practicing this type of training is instrumental for our Firefighters & EMT's due to the amount of parks in the Vista Fire District such as Onatru Farm and the Leon Levy Preserve.
