Mayday Operations Drill for 3/14/16

By Vista Fire Department
March 15, 2016

This week's Monday Drill saw Vista Firefighters and EMT's review our Mayday operation procedures in the event one is called on the emergency scene. Led by Chief Jeff Peck, our members reviewed how to call a mayday, listened to audio of mayday's being called on the emergency scene, reviewed how Firefighters & EMT's can conduct CPR on a down Firefighter and then performed all the actions in a practical setting.

A mayday is a distress signal in emergency radio communications where a Firefighter may be calling it due to them being trapped or injured. It's important for the Vista Fire Department to review these procedures for both our Firefighters and EMT's as they will be heavily involved in the process of treating a Firefighter should this type of situation arise.
