This week's Monday Night Drill was a lost person search over at the Leon Levy Preserve on Smith Ridge Road in South Salem, New York. Both Vista Fire & EMS crews searched the area bordering Smith Ridge Road, Kitchawan Road & Rt. 35 while Captain Judy Saslow led the crews from the command post.
It took Vista FD crews roughly 45 minutes to locate the person, address the patient's medical needs, package them for extrication and remove them from the woods to a waiting ambulance. Practicing this type of training is instrumental for our Firefighters & EMT's due to the amount of parks in the Vista Fire District such as Leon Levy Preserve and Onatru Farm.
