By Vista Fire Department
June 11, 2018

This Sunday morning we held an "MPO & Firefighter Fundamentals Class," an "EMT Fundamentals Class" and participated in a "Tanker Shuttle" with the Stamford (CT) Fire Department for our weekly Sunday Training.

This Sunday's "MPO & Firefighter Fundamentals Class" focused on how to properly stretch an 1-3/4" hose line off of Engine 141. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.

While the "MPO & Firefighter Fundamentals Class" was going on, the Vista Fire Department held an American Heart Association CPR class for several of our members. Our members take CPR on a yearly basis to properly serve the Vista Fire District #1 community.

As the following training was going on at the Vista Firehouse, the VFD sent Tanker 4 over to a "Tanker Shuttle" drill with the Stamford Fire Department and dumped around 7,000 gallons of water during the shuttle. A "Tanker Shuttle" is where Firefighters are forced to move water via tankers due to areas with no fire hydrants or good drafting resources. It's instrumental for Fire Departments in our area to have an adequate water supply to insure a successful fireground operation.

We would like to thank the Stamford Fire Department for hosting the training and inviting us to the Tanker Shuttle.
