June 12, 2018

This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Vehicle Stabilization" for our Firefighters and a "Treating Extrication Patients" drill for our EMTs.

The "Vehicle Stabilization" drill had our Firefighters practicing how to properly stabilize a car on it's side leaning up against an object, an "under-ride" scenario where a car is on top of another car and a vehicle on top of it's roof scenario. Vista Firefighters also went through a review of how to operate stabilization struts and straps during this drill. This type of training is part of the month long initiative for our members to learn how to properly handle motor vehicle accident response.

The "Treating Extrication Patients" drill had our EMS personnel going over what to do and not do on a motor vehicle accident scene. EMS personnel learned how the incident command structure is defined in a motor vehicle accident setting and how they should be working with Firefighting personnel during these types of incidents. They also reviewed the types of equipment typically needed on a motor vehicle accident and how it needs to be properly operated.

If you are interested in being part of our team at the Vista FD, visit us any Monday night from 6:30pm - 9:30pm or click the "Become a Member" tab at VistaFD.org for more details!
