Last week the Vista FD came by with lights, sirens and good cheer to help celebrate the birthdays of a group of children at Oakridge Condos who have been sheltering in place during the coronavirus pandemic. What a terrific way to boost the spirits of these kids and, if truth be told, also the senior citizens like me, who witnessed this unexpected act of kindness and generosity.
Vista FD: you are terrific!!!

I just nominated you guys for PIX11 Honors and I think they are interested! I sent them an email raving about how much you’ve helped our community for so many decades in so many ways...and they emailed me back asking for contact info. I gave them your main number and a link to your very cool website...I hope they come and honor you!
Love, Alix

To All:
I am writing to all the volunteers at the department to acknowledge your 911 response to a medical situation that occurred at my house involving my 17 year old daughter within the last month. My daughter, home with two of her girl friends for no more than a half and hour alone, had fainted in the backyard. Her friends instantly called 911 and the response was immediate. I arrived home only 10 minutes after the Vista ambulance and fire truck and staff were attending to the situation. Allie Fisher, a neighbor, who I never formally met, greeted me and filled me in on the medical situation. Her kindness and professionalism put me and the girls immediately at ease. My daughter Maria was given a thorough examination by the EMT on site and the friendly local faces and volunteers some of which I knew, handled everything smoothly and professionally. I could not have thanked them enough. I am sure they deal with incidents like mine and much worse frequently. They all came across organized and professional. Following their exit and my daughter given clearance and at ease, we found ourselves talking about how nice and calm each of the volunteers were. They deserve our respect and support as people like this in our community are so important. We often take those who volunteer for granted. I for one was reminded how lucky my family and I are to live in a community where when called upon we really do have the nicest and most thorough professional team to help Thank you again Vista Fire Department for your service. We most certainly appreciate your efforts. God bless you all. Best Regards. Michael.

My Grandfather, Milton Fitch, was the Chief in your department from 1941-1944. Growing up, we heard all of the stories. He was proud to be a member, and very happy to be part of the 50th Anniversary Parade. Most of his family was there to cheer him on, and he talked about that parade many times before he passed away in 1996. I see you have a photo gallery on your site, but don't see any old pictures. Any chance they will appear on your site in the future? Keep up the good work!
Haven't been to the site in a while - looks great.
Not a lot of names on the roster I remember but membership looks good.
We're having trouble getting volunteers.
Keep up the good work
be safe
