For this week's Monday night drill the Vista Firefighters & Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) practiced using the Lucas CPR machine on a "cardiac arrest call." Our First Responders simulated doing manual CPR, hooking up the Lucas CPR machine to perform CPR, operating the AED during a "cardiac arrest call" and moving the patient to our Ambulance by using the backboard. The Vista Fire Department recently purchased the Lucas CPR machine last month and was put into service on our Ambulances shortly thereafter. The "Lucas 2 electric CPR device" is an automatic chest compression system that performs manual chest compressions at a high quality and volume. It helps First Responders from not being tired during CPR compressions by giving adequate chest compressions in accordance with the latest CPR guidelines. |
