This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Bailout Training" drill for our Firefighters and a "Geriatrics" drill for our EMTs.

The "Bailout Training" drill had our Vista Firefighters conducting the practical portion of our annual bailout training. Vista Firefighters conducted two "jumps" using different techniques and procedures on how to operate our bailout system. This training has now certified our interior firefighters on the bailout system that the Vista Fire Department uses for the next year.

The "Geriatrics" drill had our Vista EMS personnel going over how to treat geriatric patients. Vista EMS personnel covered how geriatric patients can present unique challenges due to age-related physiological changes. These types of changes can affect a geriatric patient's response to illness, injury, and medical interventions. Throughout this drill Vista EMS personnel covered how they must be aware of these factors to provide effective care to their patients.
