This week’s Monday Night Drill featured a "Hoseline Advancement & Pump Operations" drill for our Firefighters and a "Medication Administration In-Service" drill for our EMTs.
The "Hoseline Advancement & Pump Operations" drill had our Vista Firefighters reviewing how to stretch a 1-3/4" hoseline off Engine 141 while working through various scenarios. As the Firefighters practiced hoseline deployment, our pump operators focused on how to supply the fire attack teams with water, utilizing the Engine 141 and Engine 143 pump panels. By the end of the drill, our personnel were better prepared to effectively respond to fire-related incidents.
Meanwhile, the "Medication Administration In-Service" drill allowed our Vista EMS personnel to conduct practical skills evaluations and review the medications carried on our ambulances for various types of responses. Medications such as epinephrine, aspirin, albuterol, and Narcan were covered in depth as part of the annual in-service training required for our EMS personnel.
