MVA Extrication Drill for 4/18/16

This week's Monday night drill saw both of our Vista Fire & EMS crews working together on the proper techniques and operating procedures during a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) where an extrication is needed to remove a patient.

Vista Firefighters practiced using the holmatro rescue tools to get an understanding of how each tool operates while giving Vista EMS crews the necessary room to remove a patient in the event of an actual MVA. The Vista EMS crews then treated the patient as they would during an MVA by going over how to extricate the patient from the damaged vehicle and placing them in the back of our Ambulance. Being that the VFD is a Fire Department with both Fire & EMS services it's extremely vital to practice this type of training so our Fire and Ambulance crews can be fully prepared in the event of an actual motor vehicle accident.

If you're interested in becoming a member with the Vista FD feel free to stop by any Monday night from 6:30pm - 9pm for more details!
