This week's Monday Night Drill was a "SCBA Operations" drill for our Firefighters and an "Call Audit Webinar" drill for our EMTs.
The "SCBA Operations" drill had our Vista Firefighters following 150 feet of 1-3/4" hose line through several obstacles that challenged our Firefighters to conduct skills such as "reduced profile," "full removal," and how to handle getting your SCBA tangled up by various obstructions. This type of training helped our Firefighters better prepare themselves for the challenges they may face in a structure fire atmosphere when they may need to exit a building or conduct various tasks such as a search & rescue.
The "Call Audit Webinar" drill led by our Medical Director Dr. David Zuckerberg had our Vista EMS personnel reviewing their Prehospital Care Reports (PCR's) as part of our "Quality Assessment & Quality Improvement (QA/QI) Program." PCR's are the documentation of all the care and pertinent patient information that our EMT's will receive during an EMS call. This drill had our EMS personnel logging onto their computers due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the Vista Fire Department continues with holding online learning.
