This week's Monday drill was an "Apparatus Cleaning" drill for our members.
The Vista Fire Department spent this past Monday's drill preparing all the apparatus for its Annual Inspection Dinner to be held on Saturday, June 3rd. With the Annual Inspection Dinner getting closer, all the Apparatus crews spent their Monday night fine tuning their Apparatus for the big inspection in a couple of weeks. Cleaning the inside cabinets of each rig, waxing the outside of their Apparatus and making sure all equipment was in good working order were some of the things our Apparatus crews focused on this past Monday night.
The Annual Inspection Dinner is a longstanding tradition in the Emergency Services where a Fire Department invites several top officials in New York State, Connecticut & Westchester County, surrounding Fire Departments and surrounding Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
All Vista Fire Department members are assigned to a piece of apparatus throughout the year with the goal being the winner of our Annual Inspection to be held on June 3rd. The winning apparatus is determined by who is the cleanest and which piece of apparatus is completely in service by the day of their inspection.
