This week's Monday drill was an "Extrication" drill for our members.
The "Extrication" drill had our members practicing a motor vehicle accident scenario. Vista Firefighters practiced extrication operations utilizing tools such as the spreaders, cutters & hydraulic ram while Vista EMS personnel looked on. Vista Fire Department personnel also practiced using the TL-9 stabilizer tool which allows Firefighters to lift a vehicle with our hydraulic spreaders. Motor vehicle extrication is the process of removing a person who has been involved in a motor vehicle accident when conventional means of an exit are impossible or inadvisable.
