This week's Monday drill was a "Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) Overview" for our members.
The "Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) Overview" drill had our Vista Fire Department personnel learning about the importance of CISD and how the CISD team would be activated when First Responders need the services they provide. Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) is a method of crisis intervention that addresses the sometimes overwhelming effects of a crisis, or critical incident, on first responders. First responders, like our Firefighters and EMS personnel, may be deeply affected by an incident right after it occurs and our Vista Fire Department personnel learned how the right kind of support can make all the difference.
