The Vista Fire Department would like to congratulate Foreman Ryan Ruggiero on successfully completing the "Ice/Cold Water Rescue - Technician Level" class at the Westchester County Fire Training Center in Valhalla, New York!
Foreman Ruggiero completed the 16-hour course, which covered:
"Ice/Cold Water Rescue - Technician Level is an advanced training program focusing on ice rescue techniques, including self-rescue, shore-based ice rescue methods, and go ice rescue techniques. This hands-on program includes significant ice time for skill practice and addresses the effects of cold water on victims, offshore rescue techniques, and the use of ice rescue equipment. The course also features several scenario-based ice rescue exercises."
All training is free of charge for the members of the Vista Fire Department, and we are always looking for new volunteers!
