This Sunday morning, we hosted a "Firefighter Skills Class" as part of our weekly Sunday Training.
The "Firefighter Skills Class" focused on key operational skills for fireground safety and equipment handling. Vista Firefighters practiced proper techniques for mounting and dismounting from fire apparatus, ensuring safety and efficiency in high-pressure situations. The class also covered Firefighter Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), emphasizing the importance of correct usage and maintenance. Additionally, firefighters reviewed the maintenance, hydrotesting, and parts of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) cylinders, ensuring they understand the equipment’s functionality and reliability. This training is not only essential for those enrolled in the Firefighter I program but also helps seasoned firefighters maintain and refine their skills for greater safety and effectiveness.
