This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Ladders" drill for our Firefighters and an "Assisting the Paramedic" drill for our EMTs.
The "Ladders" drill focused on proper ladder placement techniques, handling firefighting roof operations, and carrying tools and equipment while operating on a ladder. It’s crucial for Vista Firefighters to practice ladder operations, as they play a vital role in emergency situations—whether it's venting a structure or providing Firefighters with an exit if conditions worsen.
Meanwhile, the "Assisting the Paramedic" drill, led by Westchester EMS Paramedic Jason Hinkley, provided our EMS personnel with key insights into how they can support Paramedics during patient care and transport. Vista EMS personnel received an overview of the LifePak ECG machine, the paramedic jump bag, and assisting with fluid bags for patients. This training is essential in strengthening our EMS team's collaboration with Paramedics during emergency calls.
We’d like to extend our thanks to Paramedic Hinkley for joining us and contributing to the training!
