The Vista Fire Department congratulates EMT Grant Vialardi on successfully completing the Fire Police course at the Orange County Fire Training Center in New Hampton, New York!

This 21-hour course is designed to prepare fire police officers to perform their duties safely and effectively. Topics covered include:

-- Fire police responsibilities and authority
-- The oath of office and legal definitions
-- Coordination with law enforcement
-- Maintaining safe conditions at emergency scenes
-- Traffic direction and control
-- Pre-incident planning
-- Laws relevant to fire police operations

In accordance with New York State General Municipal Law Section 209-c, this course—approved by the Office of Fire Prevention and Control (OFPC)—is required for all fire police officers appointed after September 1, 1980.
