| This week’s Monday night drills focused on “Pediatric Emergencies & Car Seat Operations” for our EMS personnel and “Attack Lines, Master Streams & Water Supply” for our Firefighters.
During the “Pediatric Emergencies & Car Seat Operations” EMS drill, Vista EMS personnel reviewed the assessment and treatment of pediatric patients, including the unique considerations involved when caring for infants and children during emergency situations. Members also reviewed car seat operations, including patient packaging, safe handling, and important considerations when responding to motor vehicle accidents involving children. Thank you to CIC Dani Garavito for leading this week's EMS drill and sharing her knowledge and expertise with our members.
During the “Attack Lines, Master Streams & Water Supply” Fire drill, Vista Firefighters practiced key pump operations related to establishing and maintaining an effective fire attack. Members reviewed the deployment and operation of attack lines, the use of master streams, and the importance of securing and managing a reliable water supply during fireground operations.
Training in both Fire and EMS operations allows the Vista Fire Department to better prepare our members for the wide variety of emergencies we may be called to handle in our community.
