Vista Fire Department Responds to Working Structure Fire on Elmwood Road

On Monday, June 22, 2026, at approximately 8:08 p.m., the Vista and South Salem Fire Departments were dispatched to a residence on Elmwood Road for a report of smoke coming from a house.

The Vista Fire Department is proud to announce that Probationary Firefighter Gary Shuster is now qualified on our ambulances.
Probationary Firefighter Shuster successfully completed the ambulance driver training program, which included over 8 hours of behind-the-wheel driving and training on hospital operations. This week's Monday Night Drill was a "Search, Rescue & V.E.I.S." drill for our Firefighters and a "Trauma Emergencies & Burns" drill for our EMTs.

This Sunday morning, the Vista Fire Department held a driver training session for members working toward qualification as apparatus drivers on our Ambulances and Engine 142.
